In the marvelous setting of Palazzo Fava in Bologna, sits the historic and enchanting Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni. On Saturday November 22nd, the hotel generously hosted the event “Le Bellezze di Bologna: Palazzo Fava, Grand Hotel Majestic, Storia ed Arte” (The Beauty of Bologna: Palazzo Fava, Grand Hotel Majestic, History and Art), which was publicized and organized by the Bologna Connect association.
During the evening’s event, the brilliant art historian Milena Naldi gave an overview of the book Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” Bologna Cent’anni di Eccellenze. She recounted with anecdotes the curiosity that stems from the history of the palace and the hotel, drawing attention and interest from the public. In addition, Dr. Mary Tolaro Noyes, the passionate American author of Bologna Reflections and Gathering Chestnuts, who is also a Bologna Connect Ambassador in San Francisco, talked about her writings and about her infinite love and endless curiosity for the city of Bologna. She has considered the city her second home since she was 20 years old, and loves it so much that she returns here frequently and finds herself constantly stimulated by the pride and energy of the Bolognese.
Camilla Ghedini, journalist and moderator, facilitated a mini lecture on her field of expertise, which is the beauty of Bologna’s past and how it has transformed into today. For the music accompaniment, we were lucky enough to have the Maestro Giuliano Giuliani of the Teatro Comunale (Community Theatre) of Bologna, who captivated the audience with sweet and dreamy melodies, performing pieces by Mozart, Piazzolla and Bach. Maestro Giuliani is a Professor of the oboe and English horn.
The event concluded with snacks and refreshments kindly offered by the Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni and the Cantina Manaresi di Zola Predosa.
We wish to thank Tiberio Biondi, the Hotel’s Director, for the spectacular location and for surprising us with his invaluable presence. We also thank Fabio Manaresi for providing us with the wonderfully delicious Pignoletto in honor of the event.
